View Article  Bush Alters Position on Cartoons
Yesterday (after I wrote on the topic--okay I wasn't the only one) President Bush changed his tune on the Muslim protests over European cartoons illustrating Mohamed.  Previously US officials had taken a relatively neutral line, blaming the European papers for publishing the cartoons, along with Muslim protesters for overreacting.  Now Bush has altered position, condemning the protesters, but not the papers.  This is a step in the right direction.  Washington Post article here.

In a rare display of minor courage a couple of European papers, one in France the Die Welt in Germany have published the cartoons that have so offended Muslims and have caused a minor crisis in Europe.  You can see them for yourself here http://www.welt.de/z/photos/index.php/item/karikaturen/.  They are rather mundane.
