View Article  Nasrallah Admits He Wants Olmert to Stay in Power

Hezbollah chieftan Hassan Nasrallah, evidently annoyed by Israeli Prime Minister Olmert's idle and silly boasts about forcing the former underground while the latter continues to fecklessly muck up Israeli policy in the fresh air, responded in an interview yesterday, confirming something I have been saying for a long time, to wit:  that Nasrallah is pleased that his "oops I made a mistake speech" helped Olmert. This comes from report in Haaretz:

He [Nasrallah] added that he knows Olmert is making use of his statement that Hezbollah would not have kidnapped the two soldiers had it known this would result in war. "I don't mind that Olmert is benefiting from this. If we have to choose between a foolish prime minister and another who is strong and capable, we prefer that the fool remain," he said.

View Article  UN Forces Protect Hezbollah Bunker
This extraordinary video, in Hebrew, shows an elaborate Hezbollah bunker complex in south Lebanon built virtually around a UN observer site.  It is inconceivable that the UN observers were unaware of the activity, and it shows how Hezbollah invited IDF fire on UN posts.  The new UN observer force, unfortunately, will probably provide cover for Hezbollah in the same manner.

View Article  Britain Supports Hezbollah Terrorists in Lebanon
I've long noted that in all but formalities one would think that Britain and Israel were at war, given the vituperative and anti-Semitic tone of both the British political class and the media.  As if that wasn't enough, IDF forces found sophisticated British-made night-fighting and command-control gear in the possession of Hezbollah fighters in South Lebanon.  Officially, this gear was sold to Iran by the Limeys as drug interdiction aid, and then transferred to Hezbollah.  But it is hard to believe that the Snaggle-toothed hypocrites didn't know exactly what they were doing and selling to a willing buyer for cash, knowing quite well that the equipment would end up with the world's most deadly terror group.

View Article  Another Cribber of My Ideas?

Caroline Glick of the Jerusalem Post is a smart observer of Israel and the Middle East, whom I often praise, but she now seems to be cribbing off me with "Amateur Hour is Over" in which she pounds, appropriately Israeli PM Olmert for his ineffectual and feckless performance so far.  It's okay, I don't mind, and she's in good company with the Wall Street Journal and Charles Krauthammer among others, who have belatedly reached conclusions given here long ago.  Of course, I'd be real happy if any of these folks actually got their ideas here, and flattered.

Glick goes so far as to compare Olmert to Bill Clinton, which I have long done, and call for "tough love" for Israel--something else I did a few weeks ago.

The only area in which Glick is off, and doesn't track with my previous work is when she comes down on Condi Rice.  I think Glick misinterprets some of what Rice is doing.  The US is providing Israel incredible cover for Lebanon, but the Olmert government is blowing it.  Rice is a diplomat.  She can't very well ignore the screaming and yelling from America's "allies" forever.

Otherwise, a very good column from Glick as usual, although you could have read the same thing here long ago.
